Urumin is a host defense peptide isolated from the skin of the South Indian frog that shows antiviral activity (virucide) for H1 hemagglutinin-bearing human influenza A viruses. The peptide, that shows no homology to known peptide families, targets the H1 hemagglutinin protein of the conserved stalk region.
