The octadecapeptide derived from the CD4 attachment region of HIV gp120 inhibited the syncytial formation in vitro. According to immunological studies, the HIV (gp120) fragment 421-438 generated high titres of anti-gp120 antibodies following immunization in mice, rabbits, and goats.
